winter get aways from your own home

When you live up north and winters can take so long to get thru, the cold bitter air, the winds that blow the snow around, the storms...it can all get to be way to much!

So to bring a little beauty and spring into your home pick up the box of amarylis or paper white flowers to add a bit of spring to your home.
the bulbs come with a pot and the bulbs to plant, with tlc and some water within a couple of weeks spring will begin to bloom before your eyes.

Another fun way to get thru the winter blahs and blues is to buy lotions that smell like summer. I get lotions from Bath and Bodyworks like rumberry and aruba coconut that when you use them make you think of warm sunny days and the beach.  And when others smell them they can go somewhere warm with you.

I usually get the Disney travel dvds so on really horrible cold night when a movie night is necessary , we get out our travel movies and dvds and in this case travel to Disney and watch everyone playing on the rides in the warm sunshine.

Have a tropical or hawaiian night.....pour some of you and your kids fav pops add the umbrella and watch travel movies or the travel channel . You can escape for a little while and its fun to have something warm to look forward to until spring actually is springing :-) What things do you do to make winter more bearable, write to me and let me know I will share them on my blog.

RIT released the following statement:
"The entire Rochester Institute of Technology community is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of Edline Chun.  She was a well-respected and beloved faculty member who taught in the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences for almost two decades.  Her colleagues in the School of Media Sciences describe her as someone who 'always went above and beyond to serve the students and the school with passion, integrity and the utmost class.'  We extend our deepest sympathies to her family and friends.  RIT faculty leaders from the college met with students earlier today to tell them of the news, and we are making counselors available to faculty, staff or students."
The Rochester police chief says he believes the shooting was robbery related.  Chun's car was stolen, but police would not say if anything else was taken.

Friends say she spread the Aloha Spirit in Rochester.
"I first met Auntie Eddie, as we called her, at my Hawaiian dance studio," said Victoria Visiko.  "I believe it was the beginning of 2002, she was so thrilled I opened a Hawaiian studio."
Friends say Chun was born and raised in Hawaii and shared her memories of the islands with other members of the studio.
"There's not one thing that I won't miss, there's not one thing," said Visiko.  "She was the most incredible human being."
