Thanksgiving dinner at the gorgeous Belhurst Castle

We have decided for this Thanksgiving  instead of having the usual turkey dinner at home we are going to Belhurst Castle in Geneva.  The ambiance will be gorgeous, the Castle is on the lake so hopefully it will be a nice enough day that we can walk off those extra calories.

Many weddings are held at the castle which will make it very special to have our Thanksgiving there.  It's always fun to try different things to make the holidays more memorable , of course then in a couple of weeks I will have to have a turkey and the fixings because by going out I won't have the left overs for turkey pot pie...turkey sandwiches....anything turkey you can think of , we can have it. :-)

And afterward there will be all kinds of fun pictures to share with you.

On the shores of Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Region, Belhurst takes you away to a place filled with history, beauty and breathtaking views. View our Lodging Specials!  CALL 315-781-0201 ext. 2 TO RESERVE YOUR ROOM. GIFT CERTIFICATES ALWAYS AVAILABLE - NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE! Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Belhurst Castle combines the romance of the past with the comforts of the present in an elegant, yet relaxed atmosphere. Rich woodwork, mosaic-tiled fireplaces and beamed cathedral ceilings set the stage for a truly unique dining experience in Belhurst's restaurant, Edgar's. Stay the night in one of Belhurst's beautifully appointed guest rooms in one of three distinct hotels. The new Home & Family Show

While I was looking for Christmas programs to share I found this amazing link....I used to watch the Home & Family when Christina and friends did it. I had taped many of the shows but loved the one where they went to Maui . I had gone and loved to relive it in any way possible. They all had such a good time. Well it has come back! http://www.facebook.com/hallmarkchannel/app_206010992863790   I haven't seen this one but it had all kinds of information about how to do everything!   It is found on the Hallmark channel, I certainly will tune in again with pen and paper in hand.

The tip from the show for the week:

Tip of the Week: Cleaning the Garbage Disposal

"Instead of using harsh, caustic cleaners, make your own natural mixture. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda and 1/2 cup hot white distilled vinegar into the garbage disposal. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes, then run hot water down the disposal. Result? A fresh-smelling disposal with no nasty bacteria!"

It's on at 10a/9c     and a great one to watch filled with all kinds of fun information and tips. It's even the same house!

Doing something for someone else this season

Every year we go to a friend's and have a wonderful time filling up a small box with fun things to send to a child we have never seen before. We know we are helping someone in need to have a nice Christmas .  The party is called:Operation Christmas Child and it take so little to make a child so happy.  http://www.facebook.com/OCCshoeboxes/app_442256912491578

It makes you feel good to know you can do something special so someone who may not have a gift at Christmas has something waiting for them on that special morning.

Enjoying the warmth of home during the winter months.

Enjoying the warmth and feeling of security in your cozy home or the homes of friends and relatives during the winter months. They aren't really so bad after all,  yes we go out and fight the elements but we are so lucky we have a place we can call home.

~ How Precious is this little Cutie Pie in the Autumn Leaves! I've found some pictures that look a bit like my Grand Dog ~ but this looks EXACTLY like him ~ and he loves his Grandmama and his Grandmama loves him! ♥ :)

As much as I am not thrilled with it being November because it means being cold and in a lot of cases in the dark when you go to work and when you come home.  I must admit since I can’t do anything about it, November is not going away and when it does it is not taking winter with it I find things about it very cozy.  It’s the time of year where you have to slow down, tough to have a baseball game or hike in the darkness.  You run around a lot but it’s for fun things like gifts for people or things for big dinners or parties. We tend to gather more during the winter it just feels more cozy to share it with others. It’s a good time of year to catch up on some reading you have been meaning to do, or perhaps some sewing or projects you just have time to get to in the summer months.  The smells of good foods like cakes and cookies fill the air and we actually have time to sit down and have meals together.  Sooo as much as I’d like to fight it, there are some good things about the winter season that aren’t so bad.  The snow is gorgeous, especially fun to see the first flakes as they surprise us from above.  And of course when you have been outside in the chill  there are always the warm toasty fires, candles and the warmth of home to come to.  Life has calmed down and we have the time to be with the people we have truly missed while running from event to event during the summer. We can then realize how much we appreciate having them in our lives and how thankful we are .
